Megan Guzman is an English Language Arts teacher at Collier High School in Wickatunk, NJ. She is also the resident “tech teacher” and is working her way to becoming a technology coach. She advises the Model UN and Youth and Government student delegations, as well as the National English Honors Society campus chapter “The Unreliable Narrators.” She received her degrees in English and Psychology from Kean University. She is a loving wife and mother of two. She enjoys playing fantasy games like Magic: the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons in her spare time. Her favorite words to live by are Nelson Mandela's quote; “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Kiwonda Riley is the proud Assistant Principal at IDEA Kyle College Preparatory School in Kyle, Texas. Kiwonda has served in this capacity for two years and is currently enrolled in the Principal in Residence program with IDEA Public Schools. Prior to this she has served as an International Baccalaureate program Coordinator for Wayside Schools of Austin Texas and Instructional Coach for the staff and students of George A. Mercer Middle School under the leadership of Dr. Christian Pantin and Mrs. Whitney Colley.
Stephanie Smith is currently a 6th grade ELA/Reading teacher at Tates Creek Middle School in Lexington, KY. She has taught at all grade levels, from elementary through college, and enjoys working with students of all ages. Stephanie has two children, two grandchildren, and two horses, which live on the farm she shares with her parents. She is nearly finished with a doctorate in Educational Leadership and is looking forward to completing that journey.
Cassandra Iverson is an English Middle School Teacher, community advocate as acting Secretary of Rebuilding Together Jersey City, and a Rock Climbing Instructor. Ever since having her own "Ah-ha" moment with a speech therapist's help, Cassandra has been passionate about empowering others through education. Read to Lead is such an important tool in fulfilling her goal because it is not only tied so tightly to strengthening literacy, it also seeks to empower students to see themselves as the boss. Children of all ages need to feel powerful, especially in such a challenging time, and she believes Read to Lead helps to provide them the space to grow in their power and find their voices.
Michael Jones is a 23-year veteran educator of the Palm Beach County School District. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Elementary Education from Florida A&M University and is currently working towards a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. His passion for education and improving children’s lives has allowed him to work in various capacities throughout the years. He’s taught in Juvenile Detention Centers, Drop-Out Prevention programs, as a School-Age Child Care (SACC) after-school Director, and as a fourth and fifth-grade teacher. Currently, Michael is the Magnet/Choice School Coordinator at U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, and as the Fine Arts team leader. He’s become an instructional leader who mentors new teachers and models effective academic instruction and classroom management strategies at his school and throughout the district.
Dr. Tracy Bacigalupo was a classroom educator for 20 years. Currently, she works for Catapult Learning, Inc. as a Concentrated Coaching Specialist. She has a doctoral degree in Literacy Focusing on Diverse and At-Risk Learners, an MA in Childhood Education, and a BA in Healthcare Administration. Her work in the education field span from facilitating the ADNY Blended Learning Initiative at St. Thomas Aquinas School in the Bronx to consulting for Project TIE (Training innovative Educators) and Building Brainiacs, LLC. She is a Google Certified Teacher with a background in Digital Assessments and Media Literacy. She is trained in dyslexia and related learning disabilities. Her dissertation focused on incorporating morphological instruction in classrooms to aid in vocabulary development and word recognition.
